Taking care of your self on a friendly budget

It is always essential to at least have one day in the week devoted as a “self-care day”. It is where you do something you enjoy and take care of your body. It is a unique day for everyone because you can have your very own personal definition of what taking care of yourself means. It should be something that positively helps both your mental and physical health. 

Picking the Day​

The first step is deciding which day you will devote a good portion of it and commit to that day every week for a healthy pattern. Having a day set where you only do things you enjoy and fully take care of yourself will even get you through the week giving you something to look forward to.

 Consider these factors when selecting the day:

​

  • Not a work or school day.

  • A day you don’t have lots of commitments.

  • A day you don’t answer phones or social media.

​Tip: There are so many forms of face masks but always ensure to read the ingredients and  what they treat.

Self-care items on a budget â€‹

1. Get comfy and do a face mask:

 

This is the easiest thing to do and all you need is your favourite drink, lots of blankets on your bed, a movie and face masks.

 

This will get you relaxing and give you a chance to treat your skin especially if you don’t have time for a daily regimen. The best places to buy affordable and effective face masks are Sephora or Shoppers.

2.Take a long Bath

 

Due to busy life, you always shower quickly to not be late to a meeting, so you never have some time to just sit and let your body loose.

The easiest way is to get a moisturizing bath bomb, light candles and turn on music or grab a book. Try to use that time to take your eyes of any electronics too since they are already strained all week due to work or school.

3. Go for a walk or exercise

 

Never underestimate being outside and how cleansing that fresh air is especially in the morning. Go for a walk around your neighbourhood or drive to a trail with beautiful nature views. 

 

You can even do a simple workout in your backyard. Moving around and letting your body stretch from sitting in the same position every day for long hours will allow you to enhance your stability and posture.

These are some suggestions, but you can always get as creative you want when designing your self-care day. Do the things that will make you happy and you often miss doing all the time due to the busy lifestyle.
